Melted crayola art

Hey guys!  Just wanted to drop in and share my newest creations with you guys.  I've been seeing a lot of melted crayon art all over Pinterest and finally decided to give it a shot myself.  Reina (my 5 1/2 year old) helped me and these are the two creations we came up with. Can't see it in the pictures but the black silhouettes are sparkly and the white ones are as well.  I think I'm going to ink the white ones with some metallic ink to make them show up a little bit more against the white parts of the canvas.  Anyway,  Enjoy!

My first duct tape wallet!

I am at home today with a sick kiddo and trying to fight the major urge to go back to bed since I barely got any sleep last night, I was sitting here at my craft table and looking at rolls upon rolls of duct tape and decided to do something with some of the manly print ones.  So- I produced my first duct tape wallet!

Hello Kitty!

Hello Kitty has invaded my house- in duct tape!  While shopping last night I ran across some Hello Kitty duct tape and couldn't resist!  My mind was racing with ideas on how to use them- and these are what I came up with!

The Hello Kitty face and lettering are made of duct tape and paper backing.  They are applied with Alleen's Original Tacky Glue.   The lining of the purse is a paw print fabric.  The strap is made from Craft Designer brand Macrame Cord that has been wrapped in duct tape.

The second bag has a velcro closure.  The closure is made from Hello Kitty duct tape on the front side and underside is white duct tape.  It has wavy cut edges.

If you are interested in purchasing one of these purses, please email me at chrisbrown1973@hotmail.com.  They are both for sale.  Please email me with any questions or inquiries to buy.

Have a great weekend!  Happy Crafting!

Update!

Hey guys!  Haven't been on here for a while but I plan on dropping in and posting on a more regular basis!

I am happy to announce that I am officially a paid crafter!  In the past few weeks I have sold 2 of my duct tape purses and even had one special ordered after a buyer bought their first one!  I have also been asked to put together a scrapbook for a customer's son because as she put it, she's just not crafty like that!  The same customer also asked me to give her all my deets so she can have some business cards made for me so she can help me advertise!  So needless to say- I'm flattered beyond belief and finding it pretty dang exciting that I'm starting to make some money off doing things that I love doing anyway!

So as I said, I guess you guys will start seeing more of me in the future!  And I hope you enjoy it because I definitely enjoying sharing things with you guys!

Have a great night!  I hope everyone else's week has started off as wonderful as mine has!

Fight Like a Girl!

Well, here is the finished project even though you can barely see it because of the reflection on my back window.  The colors don't show but it's a pink ribbon, white butterfly, and the world GIRL is done in pink.  I have been truly touched this month by the whole Susan G. Komen "Race For The Cure" and the Ford Warriors campaigns to find a cure for breast cancer.  In the past few months I've heard so many stories of cancer hitting both people I know and strangers via friends on Facebook.  It has touched my heart and has had me crying on many a night and I've been wanting to do SOMETHING for the cause since I missed the walk this year- but just wasn't sure what to do.  This is something I can proudly display on my car every day. It may not be much but it's my contribution to the cause.

Have a great day friends!
Chris

In honor....

I need your help guys!  October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and this month I have shed a lot of tears!  I know of some gals in my graduating class that have been battling this horrible disease, know of a guy in my graduating class that has been battling cancer, and seems like every day on Facebook I hear of another person who is fighting.  There have been blog hops on this issue, television movie after television movie, commercial after commercial.  I have been inspired!  Here is what I made to go on the back of my car- but can't decide between the two scripts for the word GIRL.  Can you guys help me out please?  I need your input!  Thanks!

Hallo Scream!

Hello happy people!
Here is my latest creation- a paper piecing from the wonderful files of Scrapping Bug Designs.  I was pretty intimidated by this file at first- the biggest paper piecing I have ever done!  But once I got started and playing around with it, it was a lot of fun to create.  This little creeper is currently hanging on my front door and looking fabulous!

Stay tuned for more.  I plan on doing some tropical winter stuff this weekend- just because!  Maybe some fall and Thanksgiving stuff as well.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Two more duct tape projects

Ok.  I'm sure you guys are getting sick of my duct tape projects so I'll try to keep them to a minimum but I do have two more to share with you guys.  The other night I made a little coin pouch for my daughter to keep her popcorn money in for school and tonight she hit me up to finally make her a cute little duct tape purse.  So here are both of Reina's new duct tape fashion items.  I'm really loving making purses from this tape- it's fun and there are SO many possibilities!  I saw some really cool duct tape the other day at JoAnn's but unfortunately the pocketbook wouldn't allow me to spend the $6.99 a roll for it but it sure did have some pretty patterns to it.

Well, here are the two new projects.  Have a great night!

Last tape purse of the night- I promise

Ok- this is my last duct tape purse for the night, I promise.  I made what is now my favorite one so far using zebra print duct tape along with silver and black.  Turned out pretty darn cute!  Thanks for putting up with all my posts about duct tape purses- I promise one of these days I'll post about something else.  Sometime soon I'll be starting on a Halloween project for my daughter's classmates so hopefully within a week or so I'll be posting pictures of that.  Have a great weekend, my friends.

I'm becoming a duct tape addict!

Hello again!  Well, just like the title says- I'm becoming a duct tape addict!  I'm loving these duct tape purses!  I'm sure that by the time my fascination with duct tape wears off, I'll have more duct tape purses than I know what to do with- but for now, I'm enjoying it!  Here is my latest creation.  This one is my favorite so far!

Happy Crafting!

Another duct tape purse!

OMG!  I am having way too much fun with duct tape!  I found another set of instructions online this evening and made another duct tape purse!  This one is different than the one I made last night- it has fabric lining instead of more tape and it's a little bigger than the one I made last night.  Still need to find a snap or velcro for the closure flap but I think it turned out pretty good considering this is something I just started doing last night!  I'm loving these purses- at the rate I'm going, I can have a nicely priced purse to go with just about every outfit I own!

Have a good night, my friends!  Happy crafting!

Duct tape purse!

Hello happy people!  How is everyone doing this evening?  As for me- peachy!  America's Next Top Model is back on (my most favorite of all shows) and tonight is also a new episode of Operation Repo; my kiddo is doing great in school and even got a happy face on her paper today, she finished her homework with no fussing (can you believe it, homework in Kindergarten!); and my honey is as sweet as ever!  So life is good around here!

Here is my latest project- a duct tape purse!  I first saw the idea in a class calendar for JoAnn's but found some instructions online and when a friend from work saw it, she started asking me to make one for her.  Finally decided to break down and buy some duct tape and it was actually a little easier than I expected it to be!  Even though there are a few flaws in it, the lining on the inside was able to hide most of them!  Don't have a picture of the inside but it's lined with blue duct tape.  The opposite side of the purse has more of the lime green and teal tape.  The whole thing turned out pretty cute and for a first effort, I'm quite proud of it!

Anyway- I hope everyone is doing well. Have a great night!

Plastic Canvas spinner

Good evening friends!  How is everyone this evening?  Good, I hope.  Well, here is my latest creation- a spinner for my porch!  I never could get the pieces to connect the way the directions said but that's ok because I left it undone at the bottom and did it my way and I think it turned out pretty darn cool this way.  I have yet to see a real good wind hit it and make it really spin but it's still pretty.

Well, better get off here- I have a 5-year-old that I'm trying to convince that it's bedtime and it's turning into a bit of a battle.  Have a great night, friends!

Sharpie Tie Dye #2

Ok, here is the second sharpie tie-dye attempt.  This one I made a bunch of ovals on it and Reina and I both colored them in- I think I should've outlined the ovals in different colors because once the colors bled, it ended up with a bit of a purple overload.  But it still turned out awesome and I'm loving the fact that whenever I wear it, I'm wearing Reina's hand print in the middle.  And even though you can't read it once the colors bled, the blue oval at the bottom of her hand print, she wrote her name in it.  So this is definitely a project to be proud of- my angel and I made it together!

I hope everyone has a safe holiday tomorrow!
Chris

Sharpie Tie-Dye #1

My daughter and I had fun last night trying a little experiment from something I saw on Pinterest.  We tie dyed a t-shirt using sharpie markers (actually they were permanent Bic markers).  My daughter thought it was awesome get to use a permanent marker and color on clothes and not get fussed at for it!  Here is our pre-end result.  We still have to heat set it and wash it to see how the ink sets.  I'll try to get a shot sometime soon of her wearing it so it looks a little better than it does just laying on my stove.

Enjoy!

Been M.I.A. for a while but I'm back!

Hey guys!  Sorry I've been M.I.A. for so long!  I had kinda lost my creative bug for a while- but I'm back now! Whatever was going on to make me lose my passion for crafting has gone away and I'm slowly but surely getting back to business!  I'll be posting some pictures later of something my daughter and I made last night and probably be posting again later today after we make a second project!

Thanks for hanging in there with me!  Love you all!

No crafting- just Reina's Mom news

I guess this is one of those days when I can post about what else is going on in my life other than crafting.
I picked my sweet angel up from daycare yesterday and shortly after we got home she was running a fever.  We've been through the up and down temp all night and poor kid was just laying around with rosy cheeks  looking miserable.  These are the days when being a Mommy breaks your heart because you can't make them all better.  But at least it's good cuddling time.  It makes for some good "I want my Mommy" time.  Hopefully today we can kick this nasty fever and get her feeling back to normal- or as her Daddy said this morning on Facebook "Just love the merry-go-round fever, is it up or is it down... just want my daughter back to the sweet annoying self she is.."

I hope everyone has a great day.  Happy crafting!

Reina's new door

Got a little tired of  looking at the Paper Doll Dress Up themed door that I made for Reina when I first got the PDDU cart.  So I got a little creative and redesigned her bedroom door!
Used files from My Grafico .  I used a mixture of files from BabystarDesign- the Fairy SilhouettesChildren Silhouettes 2, and Children Silhouettes.

Thanks for stopping by.  Happy crafting!

Made some new goodies!

Can ya tell that I am like completely addicted to the Treasure Box Designs bottle caps and scrabble tiles?  I am LOVING these things and all that you can create with them!  The top two pictures are hair clips that I made using the scrabble tiles.  With some trimming they fit well and look great!  The last picture- I FINALLY found myself some bottle caps to use with these cute little creations!  I tried out my Crop-A-Dile with the bottle caps and was shocked at how easily it punched a hole in the bottle cap- then creating a cute little necklace was a piece of cake from there!

Thanks for stopping by my blog to check out my new creations!  Happy crafting!
Chris

F.Y.I. for my crafting friends!

Just a little F.Y.I. for those like me who love the Treasure Box Designs Bottle Cap designs.  They have bottle caps at Hobby Lobby- even some cool zebra printed ones and some antiqued looking ones.  And a little more F.Y.I. - the Crop A Dial DOES work to punch a hole in the metal bottle cap!

Ok.  Just had to share the info!  HAPPY CRAFTING!

Another Made It Myself Mondays post!

Got this idea from Fave Crafts and thought it was so cute I had to try it out.  Eyeball glasses!  My daughter wouldn't model them for me at first so I had to model it myself  but then she got upset that I was getting all the camera time so she finally agreed.  Here are both models!

I hope everyone has a great Monday!  Happy Crafting!

Made It Myself Monday #5

Good morning!  Happy Monday!  I have two goodies to share today so bring on the linking party!

The first is a book of numbers I made over the weekend to help my little 5 year old daughter recognize her numbers before she starts school this fall.  She does good with most of them but has a little trouble with a few so this book is helping her.  The book is made with the help of pockets from My Scrap Chick and Bottle Caps from Treasure Box Designs.
